The Xiaomi Mi9 will have a transparent back similar to Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has confirmed.
While the cameras in smartphones are witnessing new innovations on a regular basis, a hidden war is happening in the form of processing power viz. RAM. The 4GB RAM or 6GB RAM which was earlier found in laptops are now common in smartphones. But, are we ready for a smartphone with 12GB RAM, which represents three times in power as compared to an affordable laptop.
The Xiaomi Mi9 which is just two days away from its launch, CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that the Mi9 will come with 12GB of RAM. The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT was the first smartphone to come with 12GB of RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.
The high-end model of the upcoming Mi9 will have 12GB RAM and will also have a “transparent” back, similar to the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition, added Jun.
The Xiaomi Mi9 Transparent Edition will sport a 48MP primary rear camera (7P lens) with f/1.47 aperture as compared to the 6P lens 48MP rear camera with f/1.75 aperture on the standard model.
Apart from the increased RAM, transparent back, slightly modified rear camera, the Mi9 Transparent Edition is same as the standard Mi9.
The Mi9 will have laser auto-focus including PDAF (phase detection auto-focus) and CDAF (contrast detection auto-focus). The Xiaomi Mi9’s in-display fingerprint scanner is optical, instead of ultrasonic and according to the company, the fifth-generation in-display fingerprint sensor is 25 per cent faster than the fourth-generation sensors.
The phone is also expected to come with a “Sunlight mode 2.0” which will further improve the contrast and optimise the colour display while using it outdoors.
The smartphone is slated to launch on February 20.
