Facebook-owned WhatsApp has been regularly pushing new updates in its app to make the user experience more helpful and enjoyable. Continuing the same trend, the popular instant messaging app has announced a few new features that will make a way in the iOS ecosystem first.
The latest update 2.19.100 for iOS now lets users edit, send back media in the chats. To use the new feature, simply tap the doodle icon when viewing an image or video to access the editing tools. With the new update, users can send Memoji within chats directly from the emoji keyboard in iOS 13.
You can also now play voice messages directly from the notification prompts. To play voice messages, long press at the incoming voice message notification, and then tap on play. You can also change the font styles in the camera by tapping into the ‘T’ icon.
WhatsApp is also expected to add these new features to Android soon. These features are being tested in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android.
The instant messaging app will no longer be supported by phone running Android version 2.3.7 or iPhones that are running on iOS 8 or older versions. If you are using any of these versions on either Android or iOS, we recommend you to upgrade your devices to a newer version as WhatsApp will not work on these phones starting February 1, 2020.
Additionally, Whatsapp will also stop working on all Windows phone operating systems starting from December 31, 2019.
‘No support for iOS 8! You can still use it on iOS 8, but if you reinstall the app, you will no longer able to verify your account. The iOS 8 compatibility will be fully removed on February 1, 2020. Windows Phone is confirmed to be deprecated after December 31, 2019,’ WABetaInfo reported.
WhatsApp is also working to bringing a Boomerang feature to its platform. The feature will be similar to Instagram’s Boomerang and will be available in the video type panel and will allow users to pick video or GIF as the format.
