With so many cars on road nowadays the parking issue is not yet resolved. Then, after an hour or two, when you come back to get your vehicle, we find yourself wandering around where we had park our car. Thanks to Google Maps, you won’t be lost again.
Your smartphone can now help you find your parking spot, or any other location where you had left your vehicle. Simply open Google Maps on your iOS or Android device, and get ready to find your way to your vehicle or save your parking spot.
Saving your parking spot. Here is how it works on iPhones

- Select ‘Set as parking location’ from the next menu
- Look for ‘saved parking’ option at bottom of Google Maps. Click on the ‘Share’ button within ‘Saved parking’ if you also want to send someone link to that location.
When you are done with your business and ready to find your spot, follow the below steps to reach to your car.
- Click on the ‘Directions’ button located in the ‘Saved parking’ menu so that Maps can reveal step-by-step directions back to your parking spot. Tap the ‘start’ to start navigation.
- Once you have reached your car you can click on the ‘Clear’ button to remove the saved location. Google Maps also push notifications when there is a parking spot saved.
- If you haven’t activated the push notification, just tap the three-line menu icon in the app. Then click on the gear-shaped settings icon, and scroll until you see ‘Notifications.’ Make sure that the “Saved parking locations” is on.
For an Android device
The process on Android device is identical to iOS, but Google Maps on Android also offers few extra perks.
- Similar in iOS first tap the blue dot on the map that represents your current location.
- Then select ‘Save your parking’.
- Click on the ‘share’ button if you want to share the parking link to some else.
- Google Maps on Android also allows you to add more information.
- Click on the ‘Parking location’. Select the ‘Enter notes’ line to put in more information about the street or area where the car is parked.
- You can also use ‘Add photos’ to take an image of the spot to help you find your vehicle later.
When you are back to find your spot:
- Search for the ‘Parking location’ which will be located at the bottom of the Maps UI.
- Then tap the ‘Directions’ button to see step-by-step directions. Tap ‘Start’ to begin. Tap the ‘Clear’ button if you want to remove the saved location.
