Through the Virtual WiFi Router App you can turn your running Windows machine into a WiFi hotspot in addition to using it for your daily tasks
Virtual Router is a free, open source software based router for PCs running Windows 8, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. You can connect and share any internet connection with any WiFi device such laptop, iPad etc and these devices connect to a virtual router just like any other access point and it also provides a secure sharing environment by using WPA2 encryption (the most secure wireless encryption). In the subsequent steps we show how to set it up. We’ve given the software on this month’s DVD.
Step 1 - After ensuring that your computer has at least one Wi-Fi adapter card installed on your PC, take the virtual router software from this month’s DVD and run the setup.
Step 2 - When the installation is complete just run the application and perform the settings given below: .
- Fill in the network’s name (SSID) - It can be any name with which you want to share your internet connection.
- Choose a password – By default it gives some random password as like any other physical device for security but you can change it according to your convenience.
- Select the connection you want to share from the drop-down menu
- Press the start button after completing all these settings.
Step 3 - Connect any Wi-Fi enabled devices and test your connection. If you are able to connect network but unable to use the internet than it might be your firewall acting up. Go to your firewall and allow this application to use the network.
