Tech Mahindra’s research and development arm Makers Lab, which is driving fast-paced digital transformation, consulting, and business reengineering services and solutions; has launched a first-of-a-kind ‘Meta Village’.
The ‘Meta Village’ is the digital twin of ‘Paragon’ which gamifies learning in Maharashtra on the Roblox platform. In sync with the objectives of the ‘Make in India’ campaign, Meta Village from Tech Mahindra, will spearhead innovation in the education sector at the grassroots level, the company stated.
Meta Village will enable students to play on Roblox to internalise the basics of computers and coding in Bharat MarkUp Language (BHAML), a platform developed by Makers Lab that enables almost anyone to code in their native language. The development of this coding system has been crucial for the building of the Meta Village.
As a part of Tech Mahindra’s initiative to promote technical education and skill development in rural areas by harnessing the power of technology, Makers Lab has already been teaching children the basics of computers and BHAML. According to Nikhil Malhotra, Global Head – Makers Lab, Tech Mahindra, education systems must be constantly rehauled to disrupt and innovate with new teaching aids. “Metaverse is one such disruptive technology that has the power to revolutionise learning through immersive digital experiences,” he added.
Meta Village is a part of the TechMVerse initiative, which was covered in these columns earlier. Meta Village will be used in classroom instruction. Students will be able to access classrooms in Meta Village for live and offline sessions.
