If you have not already being inundated with posts pointing out that PUBG Mobile is shutting down its Indian operations then consider yourself lucky. " target="_blank" rel="noopener">A Facebook post from PUBG Mobile official account has gone viral everywhere in India. The post read " Dear Fans, To comply with the interim order of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology dated September 2, 2020, Tencent Games will terminate all service and access for users in India to PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik and PUBG MOBILE Lite (together, “PUBG Mobile”) on October 30, 2020. The rights to publish PUBG MOBILE in India will be returned to the owner of the PUBG intellectual property. Protecting user data has always been a top priority and we have always complied with applicable data protection laws and regulations in India. All users’ gameplay information is processed in a transparent manner as disclosed in our privacy policy. We deeply regret this outcome, and sincerely thank you for your support and love for PUBG MOBILE in India."
This post has gone viral giving fans of the game nightmares as to what happened and what has changed. PUBG Mobile was banned in India on September 2nd by the order of the Government of India. Now the post itself is supposed to be on the PUBG Mobile official Facebook account but when you go to the " target="_blank" rel="noopener">official Facebook page of PUBG mobile you won't be able to find the post at all. Even we were very confused by this since the post is clearly on the Facebook page of PUBG Mobile but that's not all. Even beyond this if you click on the link here you will be taken to the official PUBG Mobile page but the cover photo and the profile photo don't match together with the PUBG Mobile official account.
This also comes after the fact that PUBG Corporation has already given a statement regarding PUBGM Indian operations. Things also get a little muddy when you take into account that just days ago we saw a post on LinkedIn regarding PUBG Corporation also hiring people for Indian operations. The Facebook post does exist but the issue is that it is still not credible. PUBG Corporation will not end the Indian operations so abruptly since the country has the biggest player base in the game. PUBG Corp has made it clear that they will be taking over the Indian operations of PUBGM. Beyond that even, shutting down servers is a bit extreme when that same infrastructure can be sold to someone else. The fact the there are dedicated Indian servers of the game proves the fact that Tencent games had invested in India. Our two cents would the that there will be an exchange of infrastructure between Tencent Games and PUBG Corp but PUBGM will still make its return to India in due time.
