Pixel 8 Pro Display Troubles Reported

In October, Google unveiled the Pixel 8 range, its newest flagship smartphone series. There are two smartphones in the lineup: the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. OLED displays on smartphones are shielded from damage by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover glass. However, a few Pixels 8 Pro customers have noticed that there are several circular blemishes on the screen.

How will the Pixel 8 Pro display affect users?

These deformations seem to be caused by something pressing against the soft and sensitive underside of the 6.7-inch OLED panel. Users also noted that the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 was not affected by screen bumps. These dents can occur due to the uneven surface of the screen.

According to a report by 9to5Google, teardowns of the affected Pixel 8 Pro models confirmed that the location of some components could push the bottom edge of the screen. The report also claims that there may be something in the manufacturing that causes the dimples to appear.

However, users have reported that these bumps do not affect the Pixel 8 Pro's touch functionality or image quality. Plus, the bumps won't even look right if you can't see them from the right angle in optimal lighting. Some users are concerned that these bumps will get worse over time and could eventually damage the screen.

Pixel 8 Pro users have also reported that the notch placement is consistent between models. Several users have shared several images in the community thread that show the bumps appearing on the top edge of the smartphone. Two dimples appeared to appear on the left side of the front camera, while another can be seen on the right. Some of the photos also show more holes in the upper left and right corners of the panel, near the edges.

At this point, it's hard to tell if the problem is widespread or if it's only affecting a few owners. Some users have already contacted Google and requested a replacement. Others have asked for extended warranties as this problem worsens.
