The Backup Plus from Seagate comes in several attractive colors. It’s quite simple and compact with a single LED to indicate drive activity on the front, and a USB 3.0 port on the rear.
Performance - The Seagate Backup Plus comes in three variants, viz. 500GB, 1TB and 2TB. A key highlight of this drive is social media and mobile backup. To test the drive, we used a standard system comprising of an Intel i5 CPU clocked at 3.5 GHz, Gigabyte GA-H61M-S1 Motherboard, 8 GB RAM, a 320 GB HDD, and Windows 7 OS. The set of benchmark tools that we used to test the read/write speed includes HD Tune Pro and CrystalDisk Mark. The resulting speeds were 35 MB/sec (max), 32 MB/sec (min) and 36.9 (read) MB/sec, 30 MB/sec (write) respectively. We transferred 3.3 GB worth of files and folders from the drive to our test system to check for speed, the drive took 2 min 28 seconds to complete the transfer with read speed of 25MB/sec. Also when copying from source drive to HDD it delivered write speed of 8 MB/sec and completed the transfer in 6 minutes. The per GB cost comes out to be Rs.6 which is average for such drives. Under the social media backup feature, you can upload images to Facebook, Flickr and videos to YouTube via the Backup Plus drive feature. At the same time you can also backup your images from Facebook and Flickr. We also used Mobile backup to backup phone data, images and videos and it worked perfectly fine and is supported by Seagate Mobile App.
Bottomline: The Seagate backup Plus performs well and you not just get a fast drive but also multiple back up options from social networks and mobile devices.
