The new Samsung Galaxy F62 was announced, and it seems like Samsung has finally cracked the code to effectively enter the budget segment market. The Flipkart exclusive phone is supposed to go on sale on February 15 and the specs look impressive on paper. Consumers and people have been eagerly waiting for the new A-series smartphones like the Galaxy A52 and A72 but it looks like they will be pushed to March. However, with the new Galaxy F62, Samsung is directly challenging brands like Realme and Redmi who have been ruling the budget and mid-range market for quite some time now.
The phone is powered by Samsung's own Exynos 9825, which is a previous generation flagship processor. Samsung seems to have stopped relying on the Exynos 9611 processor and introduced a flagship processor in a mid-range device. The performance, as was seen in the Galaxy Note 10+, is good. It can handle most tasks very easily and has good optimizations to enhance the users' experience. The processor is also capable of performing well in gaming and can be a solid offering by Samsung for gamers in the mid-range segment.
Other specifications might include a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display. Samsung is known for its vibrant displays and the users expect no less even with this phone. The screen might still come with a 60hz refresh rate but that is a set standard in the mid-range segment. The Galaxy F62 might also come with Android 11 out of the box and the latest One UI 3.0. The hardware and the software on the phone look promising and is capable of delivering a good performance in day-to-day tasks as well as in tasks like gaming.
One of the key highlights of this phone is the 7,000 MAh battery. This is a huge battery and Samsung seems to have put in a significant amount of effort in making the phone powerful and elegant looking at the same time. The battery can last you a full working day and might even last 1.5 days if you are a light user. It is set to come out in Green and Blue colours and the 64 megapixels quad-camera set-up only adds to the elegance. On the front, there is a 32-megapixel punch-hole camera, which on paper looks promising and capable of delivering good photos in the day and in ambient lighting conditions. However, low-light performance can only be confirmed after the phone is launched.
The Galaxy F62 can be priced in the range of 20,000-25,000 which is a very competitive price by Samsung's standards. Other smartphones in this range commonly have Qualcomm's Snapdragon 730 or 765G which are mid-range processors and can not match the performance that the Exynos processor brings to the table. The phone looks elegant and the specs look great. Can this sort of flagship phone be Samsung's grand entry into the mid-range market? Time will tell.
