What are the solutions in your portfolio and how do they address the concerns of SMBs?
Engineer.ai is an app development and cloud solutions, provider. We make technical and creative knowledge accessible to every builder with a dream. Our platform creates an assembly line for building and operating the software with the help of AI and a marketplace of teams comprising of people from across the globe.
Our business model consists of three important pillars: Builder, Builder app insurance and CloudOps.
Builder or BuildCare is a platform where the end-to-end app is built for the customer. Builder app insurance is used by the customers to choose an insurance in order to ensure that the built software is always working and up-to-date. The third pillar, CloudOps, is a platform which allows customers to buy both prepaid and postpaid cloud computing. It is delivered either from AWS or Azure more affordable than going directly to those vendors.
Present day organisations are engulfed in a myriad of problems and that’s what our business model is trying to solve. These include:
- Cost (as app development is not affordable for everyone)
- Technical Knowledge
- Time
- Resources
- Quality

The response to the services of Engineer.ai has been tremendous. Since 2012, we have over $60 million of aggregate revenue in 3 years with growth targets of reaching a $200m in revenue in 3 years. We have had a CAGR of 180% year on year since inception (global figure).
Who are your prime customers?
Our main cadre of customers include entrepreneurs or what we call ‘builders’. We are especially helpful for dreamers, innovators, founders, startups, e-commerce businesses and small business owners. In short, anyone who wants to be the engineer of their own life.
What is the market potential of your services for the Indian horizon?
In the rapidly growing world where every day brings forth a new invention and technology, introducing automation to businesses is the key to survival and growth. We are trying to make the transformation possible by automating businesses and bringing like-minded people together. The number of people building tech is increasing exponentially with an overall market size of $4 trillion.
How do you intend to scale-up the Indian business? Any challenges in this regard.
As an organisation and app development solution provider, we are trying to reach out to as many sectors as possible while improving the customer experience and interface of product development. However, it is challenging in its own sphere. Our biggest challenge at present is: how to get people to adapt to a new way of operating that involves incentivizing them to register and take an assessment test.
To cater to this issue and enhance our user experience, we are designing a simple-to-use drag and drop online assembly process that asks intuitive questions that helps make the spec process easy, efficient and quick.
Your projected revenue from India.
With an upward moving graph of our revenue, we are aiming to hit $9.5 billion by 2021 with an increase in our capacity from 26,000 engineers to 250,000 engineers over the next 12 - 18 months by increasing steadily every week (global figure).
How are budding entrepreneurs leveraging engineer’s platform to create better apps?
We use one of the top brokers of Amazon Web Services (AWS) in India which allows us to use the aggregate purchasing power of the tens of thousands of instances purchased through our platform coupled with advanced machine learning to buy capacity. This, in turn, provides the best possible price in the market to the newly emerging entrepreneurs. Our Intelligent Infrastructure Services reduces the time spent on tedious maintenance work from AWS Migration Service to Backup-Monitoring.
What is the latest in terms of customer acquisition and new services?
We’re excited to be attending the Web Summit in November 2019. I will be speaking there and we’ll have a support team to launch a fun new campaign around app development for the #BuilderGeneration. After, we look forward to creating an enhanced online community in support of the #BuilderGeneration in 2019!
