The Redmi 2 Prime smartphone is an advanced version of Xiaomi's existing Redmi 2.
The way phone is designed, you hardly find any differences in comparison to it's predecessor - Xiomi Redmi 2. Both phones are sharing the same design aesthetics.
The Redmi 2 Prime can easily be handled with one hand, thanks to its smart dimensions and compact design, especially the curved rear edges are very smooth that feel good. The front panel of the phone is black with red-labeled capacitive buttons and status LED at the bottom, beneath the Home button. The power or screen lock and volume rocker buttons are on the right side. The 3.5 mm jack is located on the top. The rear panel of the phone is made up of plastic, but thankfully it's not slippery and doesn’t prone to dirt and smudges. The camera lens, speaker, and noise cancelation microphone are placed at the upper portion at the rear. The phone supports two Micro-SIM and one Micro-SD card (up to 32GB). The phone is 9.4 mm thick and 133 g in weight. It's not the sleekest or the lightest phone but is easy to hold with slightly smaller hands.
Redmi 2 Prime Display
The screen size is 4.7-inch, 720p IPS display with Dragon Trail scratch resistant glass which is pretty good for a phone under this range. The brightness level, contrast ratio, and touch response are good enough for day-to-day usage. Overall the display is small but bright and colorful.
Redmi 2 Prime camera
The Redmi 2 Prime has an 8-MP camera with BSI Sensor and F/2.2 aperture and it is capable of recording videos at 1080 pixel. It comes with Face Recognition, HDR, Panorama, Burst Mode up to 10 Shots Per Second, Exposure Control and Real-time Filters, etc. It captures an image with enhanced colors and saturation producing vibrant images. It captures images with a good amount of light, but it disappoints us in low-light, as the sensor fails to capture any meaningful details. The front camera is very basic and average for individual selfies.
Redmi 2 Prime Performance
During our test, Redmi 2 Prime works pretty well with 2 GB RAM and Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor that has been used in Moto G 3rd Gen (INR 10,999.00 @flipkart), the only difference is Moto G has 1.4 GHz core and the Prime is of 1.2 GHz cores. Unlike the previous version of this phone, the Redmi 2 Prime performance is great. We played games like GT racing 2, Real racing 3 and Asphalt 8 and we didn’t find any lag while playing games.
The 4G compatible smartphone comes with 16 GB internal storage and backed by a 2200 mAh battery. The device can last with you for a day under 3G/2G networks while using Gmail, Whatsapp and other android background running apps. In our video test, it lasted for 4 hours and 10 minutes with full brightness and volume.
