The Skullcandy Grind falls under the supra-aural class of headphones, is lightweight and feels solid with a metal handband giving the headphone a premium look and feel. All the controls are housed into the left ear cup instead of having the remote and microphone built inline. A button on the outside of the ear cup called TapTech by Skullcandy lets you take calls, play or pause tracks and advance to next tracks. It's designed for use with both iPhones and Android phones. The TapTech controls are easily accessible without any hurdles and works like a charm.
Good Sound Signature
To review the Grind performance we played various genres of music to test its sonic capability. On tracks with intense bass content, it delivered great thunder, without being distorted even at unsafe volume levels. And that's impressive given the price range.
On tracks with orchestral sound signature it sounded pleasant with higher register strings, brass, and vocals maintaining their presence throughout. The ear cups are designed to sit comfortably with a lightweight, low profile fit, and mixed material construction that makes them durable and can be used for longer music sessions. Plush foam ear pads create a perfect seal ,thereby giving you much deeper music experience.
We also used the Grind while playing games and watching movies and it sounded loud giving you an extra punch during game play sessions or while movie playback.
