An innovative software that lets you pass on commands to your PC through voice — Ashok Pandey
Dragon allows you to do two things – one turn your speech into text and second control your computer using your voice. It is packed with a headset and an in-built noise cancellation mike. With Dragon, you can dictate directly into MS Office or OpenOffice applications or onto the desktop or web-based email. It also helps you to post to social networks, search the web and schedule calendar appointments with voice commands.
Though, I struggled a little while setting it on my PC but once the setup was done it works smoothly. I was able to dictate all kinds of business documents quietly and quickly without encountering many errors, and it was able to cope-up with my fairly unusual accent. The errors that did occur were largely due to my pronunciation and correcting them was a simple and quick process.
If you are a flying finger typist then you may find it a little slower in speed, but it performed quite well. It keeps learning with you, and the more you use it the more accurate it becomes. Also, you can personalise the vocabulary by getting Dragon to scan existing documents or sent emails, including web-based email services such as Gmail.
Commanding the PC was quite interesting with Dragon, it responded to almost every command. However, I found some differences when using with different web browsers. For instance, Chrome doesn’t support commands such as “go to Address Bar” or “refresh page”; instead, you’ll have to use global commands such as “move mouse upper left” and “press F5”.
