Earlier we reviewed Lenovo Yoga 2 and this time 2 Pro, which gets bigger 13.3-inch IPS display and a build-in pico projector that turns it into a home theater. You can stream videos, pictures etc. and cast them on a big canvas. It is a complete productivity and entertainment device. Whether you want to watch movies with cinematic experience, or have office tasks to finish, Yoga 2 pro is the perfect device for both.
The eye candy design: Lenovo yoga 2 pro gets the matte metallic silver paint on its entire body. In the sleek sexy silver body, it holds, a brilliant 13-inch QHD display coupled with loud JBL speakers. Just like the previous Yoga tablet, it also has a cylindrical bottom edge that contains a huge battery and has aluminum hinge which lets you prop up the device at a variety of angles.
The 13.3-inch IPS QHD display gets glossy finish that looks good but unfortunately attracts smudges. The front also hosts a 2 MP camera and the rounded square panel holds the onboard JBL woofer, 8-megapixel rear camera and kickstand release button. At the rear you get a silver metallic paint with matte finish that adds beauty in its overall look. Just like previous Yoga tablets, the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro also supports four modes of viewing - Hold, Stand, Tilt Hang mode.
The 50-inch wide pico projector: Yoga tab 2 pro has a pico projector which is capable of displaying a 50-inch wide 480x854 image on screen. You can simply turn-on the projector by sliding up from the bottom edge of the display or can press and hold the dedicated button located on the edge. Once the projector is on, you will see whatever there is on your tablet. The tab's display will go to in sleep mode after 10 seconds to save the energy.
It projects images and videos with a good level of brightness. We played some 1080p videos on the wall in a dark room. The video quality was quite satisfactory providing a decent cinematic experience. We were able to read text from the projected image. However, the green and orange flames appeared washed out. There was no lag between the tab's display and the projection.
The Yoga 2 Pro also bundles a Projection app that allows you to project videos, pictures, slideshows, PDF documents etc. Using this app you can also turn on Split Screen projection that streams content playing on the Projection app as well as use the tablet without it being displayed.
Bright display and decent sound: The stunning 13.3-inch QHD screen is bright, vivid and sharp. You can watch videos, play games and even use it in direct sunlight. The tablet houses JBL speakers and the onboard woofer provides great sound. The combination makes it a perfect device for your big-screen entertainment. Whether you play games, watch movies or play songs, it will give you clear and distinct sound. It also has an embedded Wolfson Master Hi-Fi audio processing chip for noise reduction.
Coupled with powerful hardware: The Yoga Table 2 Pro has a 1.33-GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3745 processor, coupled with 2 GB LPDDR3 RAM, Intel Gen 7 GPU, 32 GB internal memory expandable up to 128 GB and runs on Android KitKat 4.4. Lenovo has done some handy customizations over the OS that lets you access common settings easily. It has the MultiWindow feature to launch up to three apps in floating windows. But unfortunately, only six apps support MultiWindow. You can play graphic intensive games like Fifa and Asphalt 8 without any visible lag. Multitasking and switching between apps app is also smooth.
Boasts the good 8 MP rear and 1.6 MP front cameras: The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro has an 8-MP camera with auto focus at the rear which captures detailed images in daylight and can also adapt to different lighting conditions. But, we missed the flash as it attracts a little noise in low-light conditions. It captures decent quality videos. The front 1.6 MP snapper is pretty basic and good enough for video chats.
The heavy duty battery: The tablet is equipped with 9600 mAHLi-ion battery. It can easily last for more than 15 hours in moderate usage. In our battery test it lasted for 5 hours 23 min (while running Bapco Battery Mark) and 8 hours 22 minutes while watching video over the projector.
