The JBL Flip 3 is a portable Bluetooth speaker with built-in rechargeable battery. Physically speaking the speaker looks like mini variant of JBL Charge.
It sports a durable, splash-proof fabric and allows music lovers to use the speaker in the rain and outdoors too. It can easily fit into a palm of hand and into a backpack. The durable fabric material finish looks very rugged and rubber housing at ends helps the speaker to stand upright easily and protects bass radiators at both ends.
The buttons for bluetooth, volume up/down and call answer are housed on the grille and are slightly protruded and have great tactile response. Moving slightly up you will find power on and JBL Connect button which enables users to amplify the listening experience by connecting compatible devices via the JBL Connect feature.
There are 5 bright LED's in the neighborhood of JBL Connect button that shows how much your music will be alive. Under the flap there is also a 3.5mm audio jack for physically connecting smartphones or other sources and USB charging port.
Performance
Pairing the JBL Flip 3 is a breeze over the bluetooth and you can wirelessly connect up to 3 smartphones or tablets to the speaker and take turns playing music. On tracks with intense sub- bass content like Titanium by David Guetta which features dance club style beats, the speaker produced pounding bass but not overpowering bass, and sounded booming and bright making this melody truly pleasurable from starting to end. Sia’s vocals were clearly audible in between the bass of this electric pop song.
In piano number like Clair de Lune from Claude Debussy’s the headphone produce as much silence as much sound without any hint of hissing or buzzing during these quiet times. We also noticed a bit of distortion in some of the tracks. Overall it sounded great with clear vocals.
We also tested the speaker across various games and were surely impressed by its performance. When we played GTA 4 which is a combination of racing, shooting, gang wars etc everything sounded perfect and will certainly enhance your game play experience.
JBL claimed the battery life of 10 hours and in our standard testing wherein we played a mix of tracks at 50% volume, it delivered 9 hours 50 minutes of music playback.
The bluetooth speaker is also available in various color options.
