The member of U family is here with top-notch specs to compete with its flagship rivals. The premium device has beautiful liquid glass surface at the rear and this time HTC added an interesting new feature called "Edge Sense".
Another beautiful phone from HTC
This time again, HTC used liquid glass surface to craft the back of the phone. The rear panel crafted using Optical Spectrum Hybrid Deposition layer. The new HTC U 11 looks chunky and snappy with its mirror finish on the back, but at the same time, it works like a fingerprint magnet.
Though it comes with 5.5-inch screen, yet you can comfortably carry the phone in your pocket as well as use single handily. The new 'Edge Sense' added interesting features to use the phone, which I will explain later in the review.
Vivid screen to enjoy various content
HTC U 11 hosts a 5.5 inch Super LCD5 capacitive touch screen. The display is quite vibrant. It produces rich colors with the good amount of brightness. You can have fun while watching videos, and playing games, etc. Having the wide viewing angle, it is the perfect device to enjoy movies and games with your friends and family as well.
Capture beautiful images
HTC U11 backed by a 12 MP camera at the back and 16 Mp at the front. Using the rear camera you can capture images with a decent amount of details and with brilliant color. It comes with dual LED flash, enabling you to capture snaps in different lighting conditions, be it low or daylight. The daylight images are brilliant, however, you can notice a little noise in low light shots, which is ignorable. You can also capture 4k video using the rear camera.
The front shooter is perfect to capture selfies and groufies with the good amount of details and vibrant colors. The daylight images are perfect whoever a little noise can be seen in low light clicks.
Snappy performance
The phone has top notch specs, meaning HTC tried to make it stand out, and in real world performance it does the same. The phone handles everything easily. I installed some of the high graphics intensive games like Fifa, Asphalt, and Mortal Kombat, etc. I didn't notice any visible performance lag while playing or switching between them.
The speakers deliver quite crisp sound but not loud enough, if you prefer playing games in the public places, then prefer to use headhones.
Software
As like previous HTC U Play and U Ultra, this phone also has almost no bloatware. The clean UI lets you play with the phone, however, a few additional services are installed already including the return of BlinkFeed and Edge Sense.
BlinkFeed works exactly as it has done on past HTC phones, and can be accessed by swiping left from the main home screen.
Edge Sense is a custom feature that lets you interact with your phone by squeezing it. You can launch camera app by squeezing the phone can click images doing the same again. You can also customize your squeeze experience by activating different settings. For instance, a short squeeze can launch music app while long squeeze skip tracks.
Battery
The phone is backed by a 3000 mAh battery, that allows you to use the device for more than a day in moderate usage. In our video loop test, it lasted for about 7 hours and 52 minutes while playing video over WiFi with full brightness and volume.
