Price : ₹ Rs 49,179

Pros : Stylish white looks, smooth edges, great performance

Cons : Bit expensive

Bottomline : With this foray, HP gives an option to its loyal customers and those who would have missed HP services in the A3 segment. Also, with lot of automation in services being planned for by HP, the manual nature of servicing this category could soon be a thing of the past.

The copier business is dominated in equal measure by the small shops adjoining government offices that provide A3 size copying services and of course the large organisations both in the government and private sector. Most of the business caters to bulk printing requirements and hence speed, quality and durability are of paramount importance.

So, what’s new with this launch?

HP has never been a dominant player beyond the A4 segment and this foray into the A3 segment marks a significant shift in strategy, to capture a large share within the A3 copier market. To achieve this end, they have developed an OEM partnership with Canon and Samsung and are now bringing their own A3 copiers in the Indian market. These MFPs further build on the unique white body styling so refreshingly introduced to the market early last year by HP alongwith a compact and ergonomic form factor. The all-white launch reinforces HP belief in moving beyond the gloomy black and grey bulky MFPs and add a touch of brightness to otherwise boring corners the MFPs are usually tucked away into.

Printing and copy speed and quality

The MFP boots up in real quick time and the first print/copy can be fired within just 2-3 seconds of warm up. Thereafter, the prints come out like a breeze, neatly stacked like a pack of cards. The copy speed literally depend on how fast you can flip over A3 sheets. Needless to add that you can also take out A4 prints and copies within the times mentioned above. The scanning takes a bit more time and depends solely on the resolution you desire. It copy and print upto 23 pages per minute and the devices comes with a 100-sheet automatic document feeder enabling quick two-sided scanning and copying. Now, mind you, this is just a mono MFP so let’s keep the conversation around color for some other day!

Compact design and attractive looks

This looks one heck of an MFP and is sure to turn that dull, boring MFP corner into one bright spot for your office. The body has a bright white matte finish and the corners are pretty smooth to handle for your hands. It is a network printer with basic buttons for functionality and alerts, so don’t expect much on the interface bit. No touch screens or wireless connectivity added yet but we do wish HP comes up with it enabled in future so people used to wireless printing can breathe a sigh of relief. However, as mentioned previously, the device is not that heavy at all and can actually be lifted and move around in office. Space saving is the mantra for HP and the device does pretty good at that.
