Build and Design
The all black body laptop gets a matte finish on the top. If you compare it with the modern age devices then this one is large in size as well as 2.4 kgs weight, but 26.6 mm thickness means it’s not a complete brick either. Like other 15-inch laptops, it also has a DVD±RW drive. The body is made out of durable plastic that feels tough. It gets all the required ports and connectivity features including, RJ-45 Ethernet network, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI, USB 3.0 & 2 USB 2.0, security slot, etc.
Display and Keyboard
The laptop has a 15 inch HD (1366 x 768) display. The display produces natural colors and has quite a rich tone. You can enjoy videos and games on it with friends and family as it offers a wide viewing angle. The laptop has a full sized spill resistant keyboard and large touchpad. The keyboard feels quite comfortable while writing this piece of review. It is is equipped with 2 speakers that produce loud sound, means you can enjoy a variety of music with this.
The spacious touchpad is quite responsive, we played games and operated the device for quite a long time, and we liked its response. It also has an HD (720p) webcam and microphone., which gives you the freedom to have video calls. It clicks decent photos in daylight or bright lighting conditions. Unfortunately, it attracts noise and often pictures came out too dark.
Performance
The combination of Intel Core i5 CPU, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, and Ubuntu OS, make the system powerful enough to run almost every daily productivity apps without any performance lag. During typical use, I had no problem streaming videos, surfing Internet, etc. To test its capability, we simultaneously ran two browsers (Firefox and Chrome) with 20 tabs each. Then a little lag in the performance was visible while switching from one to another tab.
We also played some light games on it, available from the software center. It is a pretty cool device in terms of looks and performance. The only concern was, it's started heating up after running multiple apps.
It has cylindrical 4 cell 40 Whr, which lasted about more than 6 hours in moderate usage surfing net, watching the video, etc. In our video test, it lasted for 3 hours 22 minutes, while playing video on full brightness and sound.
