Looking for small, pretty but loud speaker? Then Catz triangle is not going to disappoint you. After reviewing Catz Donut wireless speaker, we got a chance to play around with Donut’s little buddy but triangular in shape, portable Bluetooth speakers. Wireless speakers are now in trend and can prove very helpful in cutting out boredom from our life by playing your favorite music on the go. Although Catz is not a big name in Audio products, we feel the sound quality is more important than a brand name.
Catz Triangle Design and specifications
This black & white color speaker has a very compact design and looks like a key chain. It has a holder on one side that can be used to hang it from somewhere on the wall, or wherever you would like it. It comes in two colors; red and black. Our review unit is black. The front side of this triangle has black color grills, under which it has 3W speaker whereas the back side is white in color and has rubber feet which help it to stay on table or surface while playing music. There's a notification LED under the grille which flashes red while charging. The building material used in it is plastic which seems quite durable.
For placing all ports and controls in such a small and portable speaker, the Catz designed a black rubberized strip along the edges of the speaker or triangle. The features you will find at the speaker's edges to manage it are a power toggle switch, Micro-USB port for charging and for the auxiliary input, a micro-SD card slot, a microphone and four control buttons. The four controls button are comprised of two volume or music forward/backward controls, one play/pause or call controls button and one mode button for switching between FM radio, auxiliary input, Bluetooth input and music from the micro-SD card. It also does a voice prompt when you choose a different mode or when the battery is low. It can also read out the phone number of an incoming call.
Catz Triangle Performance
This Bluetooth wireless speaker has built-mic support for hands-free talking and is capable of playing songs directly for TF or micro-SD card that supports MP3, WMA, and WAV format files. For other tech specifications, it includes an impedance rating of 4Ohms and a frequency range of 160Hz to 18kHz. We managed to get about 2 hours’ continuous playback time from this speaker at full volume.
If we talk about the sound quality, then vocal or treble genre songs at low and medium volume are clear and works very well but the bass is not much enjoyable. However, when you play the songs at full volume then the bass is punchy but you get distortion in treble and vocals. Catz triangle works very well when you play it at 70-80% volume. Basically, it is a useful option due to its portability and loud sound it provides that can fit in your pocket easily.
If you need a speaker to fulfil your daily dose of personal music then Catz Triangle speaker is sufficient for you. The audio quality is decent, as long as you don’t listen to it at full volume. Moreover, from a price point of view, it could be a little bit difficult for Catz Triangle speaker to compete with other speakers in the same price range of Rs. 3000/-
