Brainwavz is not a new name in the audio industry. Their headphones are quite popular and known for good quality, sound, and price. Brainwavz’s latest offering is Brainwavz S1 in-ear headphones and they look very stylish.
Design and features
Brainwavz earphones come in a small red and black hard carrying case, which is very useful to protect your earphones. Out of the box, the first thing you will notice is flat cable design with big rubbery remote. It's matte color gives it a sporty look. The drivers of this earphone are completely encased in a fully metallic housing that has slightly angled ear plugs. The metal built makes it solid and elegant due to smooth finish and matte color. The cables are flat and tangle-free along a big or touted remote that is compatible with your smartphones. The earphone is coupled with an audio precision silicon microphone (MEMS - Micro-Electrical-Mechanical System) and have three-button control enabling users to make audio calls as well as playback.
The earphones are a little bit heavier and while using original tips it kept popping out. But we were able to resolve this problem by using the extra buds that come along with it. The cable noise that would produce when you walk around is nearly non-existent. Brainwavz also provides different sizes of 6 pairs of silicone tips, 1 pair of Bi and 1 pair Tri-flange tips. Further, the Comply foam tips come pre-installed with earphones
Performance
The earphone couples with 10mm drivers and provides a sensitivity of 93db at 1mW. It comes with OFC copper cable that has a length of 1.3m and features Y design. We have tested this phone with both Android and iOS smartphones. The one thing we noticed was that some functions of the earphone remote are not compatible with Android and iOS. Volume controls work perfectly with iOS but not in Android phones. We played a different genre of music. We are not going to talk about the high, low or mids. Instead, we want to share the overall experience. The delivery of sound by Brainwavz S1 is good but after burning it for 20 hours the vocals are much sharper but often struggling with mid instruments. The main thing about which everybody wants to know in the earphone is bass production. The bass of the S1 is great and works very well when we test it with Classic Rock, classics, Rock, Pop, and hip-hop genre songs. But, we noticed sometimes that the bass and treble appeared to compete with each other and hence, the sound often loses clarity. So, overall the production of sound in earphones is very clear and well balanced except sometimes, which depends on songs quality or genre. The earphones microphone works perfectly over calls without any distortion or call drop. About the noise cancellation feature of this earphone, it works pretty well.
