Asus brings ZenWatch 2, its second attempt to capture the smartwatch market with improved functionalities and features. TheZenWatch 2 is running on latest Android Wear OS, however, it has the similar rounded square design from the first ZenWatch. The lightweight smartwatch has sleek profile making it comfortable to wear.
ZenWatch 2 has 1.63-inch, 320 x 320, AMOLED screen features a 278ppi density. This vibrant display produces rich colors with good brightness levels. Overall, images, icons, and text appear crisp and vivid. The brightness level is also high enabling you to read the screen even in direct sunlight.
The Zenwatch 2 runs the latest version of Google's Android Wear OS that offers a range of apps enhancing the user experience. Asus has added 9-axis sensor, biosensor, but you gonna miss the heart rate monitor with it. For fitness freaks, this can become one of the perfect choices that look cool and offers several functions. However, it doesn't have heart rate monitor, still this can track your steps and includes both Google Fit and Asus’ own Wellness app to keep you updated on steps taken, calories burned and distance travelled. You can access apps by holding down the crown button or swiping left from the home screen.
Zenwatch 2 has the option to connect via Wi-Fi that enables users for updates and notifications even when the watch isn’t paired with your phone. This has the IP67 rating for water and dust resistance meaning it's a semi-rugged watch.
It is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz CPU backed by 512MB RAM and 4GB of eMMC flash storage. The watch offers a fairly fluid and responsive experience. The ZenWatch 2 runs smoothly, however, we noticed a small delay with some of the apps. This is a very small problem but overall it offers a great experience with an intuitive and simple user interface.
And, you get a huge variety of skins for your watch to choose from, meaning you can turn your watch as you want to see this.
The screen has a great viewing experience even in daylight. The watch has built-in microphone and voice control which is quite easy to access. You can access all the apps without any pain by either long-press the crown button or swipe left from the home screen. Gesture control has also been added in this which works perfectly without any issue. This watch can also be paired with iPhone, however, it’s less interactive than the full Android version.
ZenWatch 2 has 400 mAh battery that can last for two days on one full charge but that can go beyond, depending on your usage.
