Acer Liquid Z630s Smartphone Review

Acer entered into the smartphone market and brings two devices Liquid Z630s and Acer Liquid Z530. Both looks cool with brushed metallic finish on the durable plastic body. We got a chance to review both smartphones and here is my take on Z630s.

Acer Liquid Z630s is built with durable plastic. The front has a plane design with round speaker gaze. The rear cover gets brushed metallic finish, which enhances its beauty. The body is not only durable as well as doesn't attract smudges or scratches. It fits easily into palm, thanks to its dimensions which makes the 5.5-inch device easy to hold even with one hand.

720p display produces vibrant colors: The smartphone comes with 5.5-inch IPS LCD touchscreen that produces vibrant 16M colors. With 1280X720p resolution, the display has good viewing angles, but not wide enough so you can't share the screen with your friends and family. The display it bright enough, meaning you can use it in direct sunlight without any issue. In our testing we used the device in various situations from low to bright sunlight, the display performs well, as we were able to read text easily.

Power packed with octa core processor: The smartphone' review unit we received, comes with 64-bit, octa-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735 processor, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB ROM and runs on Android 5.1 with updated Acer Liquid UI on the top of it. Key apps have been designed as “Float Apps” taking up only a portion of the screen so users can see and interact with the desktop below. This feature is available for maps, browser, notes, calendar and more, along with “Float Caller” which lets an incoming call pop up as a mini window for the user to choose whether to answer or reply with quick messages without interrupting the current session completely.

The Liquid Z630s is also equipped with AcerEXTEND which connects wirelessly to a compatible laptop or PC and lets you view the phone’s home screen in a phone-shaped emulator box on the computer. This smartphone has two micro-SIM slots that support 4G networks.

During our test, we didn't see any performance lag in the phone. We played several games such as Fifa, Asphalt 8 and temple run 2 etc. but there was no performance lag, even while switching between apps.

In our benchmarking, it scores 6857 on 3DMark Ice Storm Extreme, 185 on 3DMark Sling Shot, 35668 on AnTuTu, 2719 on Vellamo and 20106 on Quadrant.

Shoot decent images: Acer Liquid Z630s comes with 8 MP camera at both ends front and rear. The auto-focus rear camera is capable of capturing 1080p video, but the quality wasn't much impressive. It captures images with good detail and decent flavor of colors.

Using the LED flash placed at the rear, you can capture good quality images in low light, but the dark parts of the images appear less sharp. The front camera also shoots quality daylight images and perfect for selfie and groufie.

Last for more than a day: The smartphone packs 4000 mAh battery that lasts with you for more than a day with moderate usage. You can play with the phone across the day without needing the additional power source. In our battery test, it lasted for 3 hours 51 min, consuming 40% battery on AnTuTu battery bench. In video test, it lasted for 6 hours 50 minutes to consume entire battery, playing video over wi-fi with full brightness and sound.
