India is touted as the IT hub of the world. We have a lot of engineers but when it comes to employability of fresh graduates, the situation does not look very promising. Reason behind this is a lot of graduates do not have much clue on how to crack the interview in big IT companies. To solve this problem, skilling and preparing students for crucial interview preparation is very important.
GeeksForGeeks presently enjoys the leading stature and has been recognized amongst the globally trusted interview preparation portals in the ed-tech industry. What started as a blogging website 11 years ago by IIT Roorkee alumni, Sandeep Jain is now counted as one of the top-most firms in the global ed-tech space which boasts of 20 million active monthly user base and 8 million registered users at the international level.
Their forte lies in preparing students to crack interviews and get placements in recognized firms including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, TCS, Infosys, etc. along with other leading IT firms. While they majorly focus on the technology part of the interviews and curate courses for lateral entry candidates, some of their courses do provide guidance for interviews till the HR round is cleared.
GeeksForGeeks also offers guidance via its specifically curated content in the fields of data structure, GATE, UGC, CS, algorithms, coding, machine learning, and web development. It not only provides tutorials for an engaging learning process but has also recently forayed into the teaching segment and provides Engineering courses that offer options of both live classes and self-paced learning. They also focus on the provision of a unique programming skill-based content since they are well aware that problem-solving is an essential skill, is highly preferred by employers, and hence the students need to be prepped up for the same.
The organization was launched with a vision to create a platform for students that will guide them in the right direction and help them prepare for their competitive examinations. While it earlier focused on sharing subjects-only knowledge, over the years, the portal has emerged as a community that is engaging and immersive. It works to develop the learners holistically so that they can crack their interviews and secure placements in leading firms.
The interesting bit is that the firm offers free-to-access content to the students on how they can get their dream job. Presently, GeeksForGeeks is now a 100+ employee organization and is making concerted efforts to make a mark in numerous students’ lives and to help them get one step closer to their goal of landing up their dream job.
Speaking about the growth of his venture, Sandeep Jain, Founder & CEO, says, ‘’ It is during my college days when I was struggling with interview preps and lacked knowledge as to how many rounds would be there, or what possible questions can be asked; I realized that there is a learning gap for the students in terms of guidance, mentorship and dedicated learning resources for interview preparation especially to secure placements in tech firms. There wasn’t any company that was solely providing guidance on interview preparations and this prompted me to come up with GeeksForGeeks. It’s been 11 years now and I am ecstatic that we have been performing considerably well in the market. While we majorly drive revenues from our blogs but our courses segment has also been doing fairly well. We have gained prominence and are recognized for providing good quality content which is free of cost as we want to ensure that our services are accessible and affordable for the deserving learners irrespective of their financial and geographical background.’’
So far the venture has been bootstrapped and has been a profitable business as of now. However, Sandeep hints that he is presently in discussions with a venture capitalist and that if the deal will be sealed, it will be a round kind of fund.
GeeksForGeeks envisions continuing its business of providing high-end and relevant content to the learners. Meanwhile, it also plans to come up with trending online courses based on emerging technologies, coding themed events and new campus programs across the nation, internship opportunities, along with the integration of advanced technologies on the platform to make the learning experience superior, engaging, and innovative for the students in the times ahead.
