Today, when the shopping norm has gone beyond malls and brick-and-mortar markets to desktops or mobile devices, giving a major push to the e-commerce industry, buying anything without comparing prices across different stores is not a good idea. Catering to the same, Mumbai-based DigitalWebWise, a startup by some engineering students runs a price comparison platform called PriceKart.com.
PriceKart intends to provide affordable shopping alternatives to working class families with incomes under Rs 20,000 per month or elderly people on fixed incomes, and also a large student population that tend to be on strict budgets. This segment of buyers makes up the largest market segment that is expected to grow by 10% per year.
The Challenges
The company wanted to provide differentiated customer service and provide an atmosphere for a positive shopping experience for customers. The company has many competitors in this area of expertise. So, consumers demand superior services, fair pricing, savings, value for their money, and try out products & services before they make a choice.
The Implementation
The company setup PriceKart.in, which is an online platform that facilitates all savvy shoppers to compare products over thousands of sellers, merchants and the individual prices. It allows both shoppers & merchants to meet and associate with each other. The comparison functionality has been achieved through a Chrome Browser extension that the company calls Magical Saving Extension. This shows three buttons to the user - Price Alert, Check Price, and Coupons. The ‘price alert’ button adds the product to user’s watch list and sends a notification when there is a price drop.
