Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has announced a new sub-brand for its upcoming smartphones called as Oppo Reno. The announcement was made Vice President Shen Yiren revealing brand’s logo that reads ‘I am Reno’ and uses lively colours, which indicated that the series could target youth.
Yiren also revealed that Oppo Reno’s first smartphone will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and will be launched on April 10 in China. Other specs include Oppo’s 10x optical zoom capability which was also demonstrated at Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, Spain, last month.
The smartphone will be fuelled by a 4,065mAh battery, added Yiren. Being a different brand, we believe there will be changes in design too. There is no additional information of the smartphone yet.
The company has also included a landing page on its official e-shop wherein users can fill in their information to get notified of the forthcoming Reno phone sale. The Oppo Reno smartphone will soon be launched in India, which is also Oppo’s potential business market.
Oppo has already set a benchmark the Indian smartphone market in terms of futuristic technology and innovations in camera sensors, fast charging and great designs. The company has also launched a R&D centre in India, thus it is safe to say that the Chinese phone maker will continue pushing new Indian user centric smartphone innovation.
Earlier this month, Oppo F11 Pro was launched in India at Rs 24,990. The Oppo F11 Pro goes head to head with Vivo’s recently launched V15 Pro that also sports a pop-up camera and is exactly double in resolution as compared to F11 Pro.
According to a report by market research firm Counterpoint Research, Oppo acquired eight per cent share in the fourth quarter of 2018.
Overall, Chinese brands including Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo registered their strongest ever annual performance in India, capturing a record 60 per cent smartphone market share up from 54 per cent during 2017.
