Nokia 9 PureView with five-camera setup launched at MWC 2019

HMD Global, the brand that now sells Nokia branded phones has introduced a new smartphone with a unique five camera array, the Nokia 9 PureView at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The Nokia 9 PureView features penta-camera setup at the back powered by ZEISS Optics. Every picture taken with a Nokia 9 PureView is in HDR. The five cameras simultaneously capture the image and fuse it together into one 12MP photo with great dynamic range and depth of field. The phone also allows users to capture image in the uncompressed RAW “DNG” format.

The Nokia 9 PureView has two colour sensors and three monochromatic sensors. All the five sensors work together to collect up to 10-times the amount of light than a single colour sensor of the same type. Every image captured by Nokia 9 PureView is HDR, with up to 12.4 stops of dynamic range and a full scene 12MP depth map. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset processor, a 2 pOLED “PureDisplay” screen, integrated Qi wireless charging, an in-display fingerprint sensor and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back.

The company also announced Nokia 4.2, Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 1 Plus phones. The Nokia 4.2 features a sculpted-glass design, an all-screen display and packs in a dual-rear camera, AI innovations and runs on Android 9 Pie. The smartphone sports a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. There is a fingerprint sensor on the back it also features AI face unlock. There is a 13MP + 2MP dual rear camera setup, and a 13MP front camera.

The Nokia 4.2’s compact size and edge-to-edge display with ‘selfie-notch’ delivers a smartphone which, at just 8.4mm thick, is slim enough for single hand use.

The Nokia 3.2 features HD+ display and comes with a two-day battery life and is powered by Android 9 Pie OS. The Nokia 3.2 features a 6.26-inch HD+ display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 mobile platform. The Nokia 3.2 comes with a single 13MP camera with flash and a 5MP front-facing camera.

The Nokia 1 Plus is a brand-new member of the Android (Go edition) smartphone family. The Nokia 1 Plus sports an 8MP primary camera on the rear and a 5MP front camera.

The Nokia 9 PureView is already shipping and will retail for a global average retail price of $699. The Nokia 4.2 will be available starting April for a global average retail price of $169 for the 2GB/16GB variant and $199 for the 3GB/32GB variant.

The Nokia 3.2 will be available in early May for a global average retail price of $139 for the 2GB/16GB variant and $169 for the 3GB/32GB variant.

The Nokia 1 Plus will be available from mid-March for a global average retail price of $99.
