Yesterday Nvidia released their GTX 1660 Super graphics card. It was a big release, giving a great performance in the reach of budget players. Along with that, a few rumours regarding Nvidia’s next generation of graphics card were also released, the Nvidia Ampere RTX 3000 series.
The details were released by wccftech. The website claims they “got an absolutely humongous rumour & leak dump all about NVIDIA's next generation Ampere graphics cards.” The website does mention though, to take the rumours with a grain of salt.
The new cards with the Ampere architecture will feature improved Rasterization. The company says that the RTX 3000 series card will feature “massive” improvements across the board. The Ampere cards will also have a better clockspeed than Turing cards with the difference of 100-200 MHz. The new architecture will be based on a 7nm EUV process tech. The website also states that the Nvidia Ampere cards will also run on a lower voltage, “even sub 1.0V”. I am pretty sure this will only be the case for the cards in the lower end of the series. The cards will also feature more vRAM across the board.
But the best part about the leak is that RTX 3080 and RTX 3080Ti might actually be cheaper than RTX 2080 and RTX 2080Ti. They state that this will only be the case for these two high end cards, and the pricing for the lower ends in the series might remain the same as that of the RTX 2000 series’ lower end cards. This would be a good move since AMD’s latest Radeon series card seem to be catching up in performance to Nvidia’s cards, and they are also priced significantly lower. The launch of the new Nvidia Ampere cards is expected to be somewhere around the first half of 2020.
