The search giant today has updated its Chrome OS with new features to make the user experience more rich and better. As every Chromebook runs on the Chrome OS, which is updated in every six weeks to keep your device speedy, smart and secure.
For the uninitiated, Chrome OS is a Linux kernel-based operating system. Chrome OS is derived from the free software Chromium OS and uses the Google Chrome web browser as its primary user interface, which means, Chrome OS majorly supports web applications.
Here are the new features coming in Chromebook.
The Chrome OS now comes with new media controls that let you play or pause audio from a tab or an app. The new feature is particularly helpful where you have plenty of tabs opened and you struggle to turn off a specific tab’s audio. With the new controls, you can open your system menu and see all of the tabs or apps on your Chromebook that are playing audio tracks and control them from one place.
Google has also updated the Chromebook camera app to make taking photos and videos easy to find. The portrait mode is now available on Google Pixel Slate and the company is working to bring the same mode onto other Chromebooks. Google has introduced an updated interface for navigating between new modes, like square mode and portrait mode. Simply, open your camera app, take a selfie with a landscape or square crop, and access it easily in your Downloads folder.
You will also be able to easily dismiss your notifications with the ‘Clear all button that will available later this month. While Chrome OS is available as a pre-installed software from Google manufacturing partners, but there are methods also to install it on third party devices.
