HP has introduced two new models in its Latex series of printers for the sign and display print service providers (PSPs). The two new offerings, viz. HP Latex 3500 and 3100 are 3.2-meter (126-inch) printers, meant to help the constantly challenged PSPs deliver short turnaround time across varied applications without compromising on quality.
The Latex 3500 is ideal for standardized workflows and can handle high-volume, dedicated application production. With heavy-duty roll handling up to 300 kg (660 lbs) and 10 liter ink supplies, the printer enables more unattended operation, which can be perfect for overnight printing. Additionally, it has dual-roll split spindles that offer easier, safer handling of oversized rolls. It has in-line slitters to reduce bottlenecks in finishing; and the built-in LED lights support on-the-fly proofing.
The Latex 3100 Printer is ideal for large sign and display PSPs to cater to a variety of indoor and outdoor applications. It can print indoor quality at speeds of up to 77 m2/hr (830 ft2 /hr).
The printers offer support for unattended operation with remote monitoring and print status alerts, and are compatible with HP Latex Mobile application. A new Printer Status Beacon helps operators stay up-to-date on job status’ and unexpected downtime from anywhere on the production floor.
The Printers are also JDF-enabled, a standard language that allows data to pass between different systems to simplify data exchange and collection, helping PSPs reduce labor costs and increase profitability through automation.
Healthier Printing and Usage with Latex Ink
The HP Latex inks are water-based, enabling healthier signage printing. They don’t require special ventilation. Being UL ECOLOGO Certified, the inks meet a range of stringent human health criteria, thereby allowing a safer workplace. They’re non-flammable, non-combustible and nickel free. They’re UL GreenGuard Gold Certified, thereby producing odorless prints that are ideal for indoor display.
3M MCS Certified
The industry recognized finished graphics warranty, 3M MCS warranty has been expanded for HP Latex inks, offering a six year warranty for film lamination. 3M has also introduced a new UV clear coat for third-generation HP Latex inks that features a five year warranty when used with 3M premium solutions, expected to be available in the beginning of September 2015.
Both HP Latex Printers along with the complementary HP Latex mobile app are expected to be available worldwide starting August 3, 2015.
