Netflix began its gaming journey in 2021 and has since released several new games, including several that were created exclusively for its members. By year's end, Netflix will have 86 games, 40 of which were released this year.
These include two in-house productions, Netflix Stories: Love is Blind and Oxenfree II: Lost Signals, as well as licensed games like Storyteller, Football Manager 24 Mobile, and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy: The Definitive Edition, which is arriving later this week.
At least three of the 90 video games in development are based on Netflix and original series and movies. The list includes Squid Games, where players can compete against each other in various games featured in the show. Additionally, Netflix is collaborating with Super Evil Megacorp on the video game Rebel Moon. Announced at Geeked Week last month, The Money Heist: Ultimate Choice will be released next January.
Upcoming Games on Netflix
One of the upcoming games is a Sonic the Hedgehog game called Sonic Mania Plus, which was originally released for PC and consoles. The game is only available on mobile devices for Netflix subscribers.
"Relive the Sonic of the past with an exciting new twist on classic zones as you battle new bosses and Dr. Eggman's evil robot army," the description reads. The mobile version of Sonic Mania includes new characters such as Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel, as well as a new game mode.
Also coming next year is FashionVerse, a fashion simulation game that lets players dress up as realistic models and create their own fashion brand. Game Dev Tycoon will get an updated version next year that includes a Netflix-exclusive feature that allows players to develop games based on their favorite movies and shows.
Finally, next year, the library will be joined by Camp Spirit, the sequel to Spry Fox's Cozy Grove, which Netflix bought last year. Other titles eligible include Hades, Chicken Run: Eggstraction, Netflix Stories: Virgin River, and more.
