NetEase games may not be a big name like Tencent games in India but the chances of you playing one of the games developed by them are extremely high. Netease Games are the publishers behind games like Rules of Survival, Knives out, LifeAfter, Creative Destruction, and Cyber Hunter to name a few. Not only do they develop mobile games on Android but also on PC. Games like the ones already mentioned have a port of them on PC which eliminates the need of using an android emulator. Now when it comes to Cyber Hunter, the game was not able to make a name for itself in India and due to some good reasons and some bad but the game has entered in its Season 9 now and it is time to check it out again.
Cyber Hunter Review: What went Right and Wrong?
Cyber Hunter came to Google Playstore on 26th April in 2019. It was during the time when battle royal games like PUBG Mobile and Garena Free Fire were at their peak and mostly without any real competition. The game was being hyped for months by Netease on the Google play store and even the players were excited about the game from the videos they had seen. Cyber Hunter was promising what no other mobile battle royal game was at the time. The hyper colorful visuals and a new type of gameplay were making Cyber Hunter even more exciting before the game actually released. Cyber Hunter was offering a new form of battle royal where players could glide across the map with a drone. They could climb on walls and structures like spiderman and beyond that, there were insane movements that players could perform like rolling from side to side and structures they could make in the game. In essence, Cyber Hunter was a mashup of PUBG and Fortnite but executed really well.
So what exactly went wrong for the game? Well, for starters it was hackers. It may very well be a stereotype but Chinese hackers were in the game in a week of its release and the players from other regions started dropping fast. Hackers ruin the overall experience of the game and since there was no region lock in place Cyber Hunter was becoming a hacker's paradise. The other thing that did not go well for the game was the lag. PUBG Mobile at the time was very much a dominating force in mobile gaming and they had the bandwidth required to offer players almost a lag-free experience and since Cyber Hunter was still a new game it was still trying to build the bandwidth to give players a seamless and lag-free experience. Though players have little to no patience and with a lack of good PR and communications Cyber Hunter suffered and lost many of its initial players that joined the game when it came out.
Cyber Hunter Review: How is the game now?
Cyber Hunter over the Seasons has improved itself a lot. Kudos to the dev team of the game who have completely overhauled the game from the ground up. From the visuals to the in-game mechanics everything has been overhauled to the max. The essence of the game has still been retained but what is immediately clear is that Cyber Hunter is still the same game it was when it first launched. Over the updates, new elements were introduced in the game like crafting new weapons and structures with quantum cubes. Certain elements were added from other Netease other games as well like getting a vehicle the same way as it is done in Rules of Survival. New additions like the ability to revive a teammate even after they were killed were also added. Now as the Game enters its Season 9, it has come into its own.
Netease also released two new additions to the Cyber Hunter line. A lite version of the game was also launched and a port for PC was also done. Cyber Hunter was always the game that was for players who liked Fortnite but wanted something similar to PUBG Mobile as well. The devs of the game have done an excellent job with the game but hackers sadly still exist in the game. Even though there are hackers still but they are more manageable and Netease has introduced several new measures to ban hackers in the game. In its 9th season, Cyber Hunter is a game that if you haven't tried till now you definalty should.
