Lenovo-owned Motorola Mobility is planning to revive the iconic Razr brand which will be launched as a new foldable smartphone. Last month, Motorola CEO has confirmed that the company is working on Motorola Razr device that will be released later this year.
Motorola Razr foldable smartphone was recently seen on the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) database having XT2000-1 as model number. The description on the website reveals Bluetooth 5.o as connectivity option on the Motorola Razr. The smartphone will be launched Verizon Wireless as a carrier in the US.
‘We started working on a foldable smartphone a long time ago. There will not be a foldable screen on the outside, but the smartphone will carry a clamshell design similar to the Motorola Razr V3,’ said Dan Dery, Motorola VP of Global Product.
Currently, codenamed Voyager, Motorola Razr will have pre-installed apps such as Moto Display, Moto Action, Moto Camera. According to the media reports, the secondary display can also be used as a trackpad to scroll social media apps or web pages on a browser.
The device is expected to come with a 6.2-inch OLED folding screen as a primary display, which when folded will transform into a 600x800-pixel secondary display. Motorola Razr would be powered by the Snapdragon 710 SoC with eight CPU cores built on Qualcomm’s custom Kryo 360 architecture. Of the eight cores, two ARM Cortex-A75 cores would clock at 2.2GHz, and the remaining six cores ARM Cortex-A55 cores would clock at 1.7GHz. There will also be an Adreno 616 GPU. Motorola Razr could come in two option -- 4GB+64GB and 6GB + 128GB.
In the US, the Motorola Razr is expected to cost $1500, which is relatively cheaper than the other foldable smartphones including the Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X.
The company’s second device – the Motorola One Vision has also received Bluetooth certification. The Motorola One Vision will run Android One OS and is rumoured to have a 6.2-inch edge-to-edge, CinemaWide punch-hole display. There will be a dual camera setup with a primary 48MP sensor.
