Mobycy had initially disrupted short-mile connectivity by introducing dockless bicycles in the country. The Green Tech start-up is now turning a new leaf over with the launch of Zypp. As custom-made e-scooters, Zypp is fitted with IoT devices to enable smart and remote unlocking of the same. With Zypp, everyday commuters can cover the short-mile distance in a greener and cost-effective fashion.
Mobycy was recently awarded the “Best Mobility Start-up in India” by Niti Ayog. At the same event, Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi observed the e-scooter Zypp and spoke affirmatively about the same. With positive feedback from the Prime Minister as the inspiration, Mobycy has now launched the pilot of Zypp in Huda City Centre, Gurgaon with 300 e-scooters.
Since Zypp comes with smart IoT locks, users can simply locate the e-scooter in the closest vicinity from the Mobycy app and unlock the same by scanning the QR Code from the app. The app also informs users about the remaining battery and runtime of the e-scooters, helping them make the informed choice. The maximum speed of Zypp is 25 KMs/Hour and thus, as per the government directive, even commuters without driver’s license can avail of the same.
Commenting on the latest development, Akash Gupta, Co-Founder, Mobycy said, “With the launch of e-scooters, we aim to disrupt the short-mile connectivity. 20% of Indians, which is over 210mn people basis census data, get impacted daily when it comes to their last mile or first-mile commute, that’s a huge problem to solve. So, at Mobycy, we are driven by the vision of turning India into a greener city via smart, mobility solutions. I can guarantee this will be the most convenient and affordable short commute ride option for the next billion Indians. There has been a rise of social and environmentally conscious commuters and we are hopeful that they would join us in our crusade and opt for electric mobility solutions that don’t come at the cost of our environment.”
In order to hail a Zypp, commuters need to link their Mobycy account with either Aadhaar or Driver’s license. Zypp can be unlocked for INR 10 and charges Re.1/min for travelling and doesn’t charge any booking amount.
Upon completing the ride, users can simply park the Zypp anywhere safely, with the exception of private compounds or gated communities. While launching the pilot with 300 e-scooters, Mobycy is aiming to reach 5000 e-scooters by March 2019.
