The large-language model-running AI-enabled PCs are an example of Microsoft's efforts to integrate AI technology into its products. Analysts believe that AI-capable PCs will contribute to the revival of the dwindling personal computer industry; Canalys anticipates a rise in usage starting in 2025.

This will be the gadget's first significant update in almost thirty years. Since the Windows key was first introduced in the 1990s, Microsoft has made the biggest changes to PC keyboards, which are represented by this evolution.

The new AI key is called the "Copilot key". The key allows users to summon an artificial intelligence (AI) agent with the push of a button. The AI button, decorated with Copilot's distinctive logo, is conveniently placed near the space bar, which can replace either the right CTRL key or the menu key.

The key will be seen on some new Windows 11 PCs before and later this month at the CES technology show in Las Vegas, Microsoft said. As for commercial availability, the key will be available sometime after February of this year, including future Surface devices.

Copilot highlights the goals of Microsoft and computers with artificial intelligence. AI-enabled computers are machines powered by advanced chips that can run large language models and technology-generated applications directly on the device, rather than in the cloud.

It is the latest attempt by a company investing billions of dollars in artificial intelligence to incorporate the technology into its products. Analysts are betting on these AI computers to help the computer market, which has been virtually free since the pandemic. The research company Canalys has predicted that the adoption of computers supporting artificial intelligence will accelerate from 2025.
