Micromax and MediaTek Team Up to Make In-Series Phones in India

It has been a long road for Micromax. From becoming one of the highest-selling Indian smartphone manufacturers to being resigned in the pages of history but they are coming back. More precisely they are coming back on November 3rd with a brand new lineup of In-Series phones and now we are hearing that MediaTek is not only providing processors for the In-Series devices but also will be collaborating with Micromax to design and develop them in India.

This collaboration between Mediatek and Micromax will be part of the Make-in-India initiative launched by the Government of India to promote Indian business and the manufacturing prowess of the country. Micromax will be launching two In-Series smartphones in India with MediaTek Helio G series processors. One of the smartphones will be running on the MediaTek Helio G85 processor and the other will be running on the MediaTek Helio G35 processor. The Helio G-series by MediaTek is best known for gaming performance so it will be interesting to see how this team-up will pan out.

Rahul Sharma, the co-founder of Micromax, said, “Micromax’s R&D in India will use the latest technologies and the advanced MediaTek Helio G series chips, which deliver premium performance and enhanced customer experiences. Software development has always been the strength of the Indian ecosystem and we will leverage that strength in our software design. Special focus on Kernel, Connectivity, Multimedia, and Telephony will provide an enhanced experience of the core Android operating system. Our team will be using these chipsets to develop the upcoming smartphones at our R&D Centre in India.”

Micromax In-Series 1A Specifications (Rumored):

One of the smartphones that Micromax will be launching in India as part of the In-Series line of devices is the In-Series 1A. Rumors suggest that the Micromax 1A will come in two variants and with a Mediatek Helio G35 processor. Internal storage will be 32GB paired with either 2GB of Ram or 3GB of Ram. The 2GB Ram model of 1A might sport a 13MP + 2MP dual-camera setup while the 3GB Ram model has a triple camera setup. Bear in mind that all these are rumors and there are no specific details about the device as of now.
