This MFD is good for small/home offices that require good quality prints at an affordable price. Print speeds however, were not so good. We got 4 ppm for text against its claimed of 12 ppm, and it took around 7 mins for a full-page graphic. The MFD’s scanning speed and quality were good. It took just around 38 seconds to scan a text page, and 43 secs for a full page graphic. As a copier, the X83 functions well, but a little slower than its printing.
This is a basic MFD with all the regular features. It does come with an interesting software though, which is the Impact ColorFax Lite for faxing, using a Fax modem. So even though the MFD doesn’t have fax functionality, you can improvise with this software and a fax/modem. Though it’s a little more expensive than HP’s PSC 1210, the extra price is worth it because of good quality prints and a higher rated duty cycle of 3000 pages per month against the HP models 1000 pages.
