Smartphone manufacturers are intently looking at India as a huge landing ground for bringing-in innovations as the industry continues to maintain its growth trajectory. As per IDC, India is the fastest-growing smartphone market in the world, accounting for 27.5 million devices sold in the second quarter of 2016, up 17 percent from the previous quarter.
It's a virtual war in India's burgeoning smartphone market especially in the sub-15k category is where most smartphone manufacturers see growth coming from. Users looking to buy a smartphone in this price range are often confused given the plethora of options available in the market.
To simplify their purchase decision, here’s a quick comparison between three smartphones under 15k that have taken the market by storm in recent times – Lenovo Vibe K5 Note, Le 2 by LeEco and Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3.
1. Display: Bold and Beautiful
One of the most important aspect that users consider when deciding on a smartphone is the display quality it offers, that majorly dictates how their overall experience with the phone will be. LeEco’s Le 2 flaunts a 5.5 inch Full HD display and comes with an in-cell display screen which is usually featured in phones in the higher price bracket. The Vibe K5 Note features a 5.5-inch full-HD IPS display and much like its predecessor, Vibe K4 Note. Redmi Note 3 on the other hand comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1,080x1,920 pixels (403 ppi pixel density).
All three phones promise a great display and fair equal as the display panel on all three devices offer good viewing angles, colour saturation and brightness. However, Le 2 has some additional features that make the viewing experience for users a seamless one. Le 2’s in-cell screen allows devices to be thinner and lighter.
2. Processor: Powerful and a delight for multitaskers
The Vibe K5 Note packs a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor clocked at 1.8GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM and Mali-T860 GPU and comes at a price of Rs 11, 999. On the other hand, LeEco’s Le 2 comes packed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage and is backed by the powerful Octa-Core Qualcomm ® Snapdragon ™ 652, one of the fastest processors in the segment. This relieves users the tension of regularly cleaning up their phones for free space ultimately making the phone deliver a buttery smooth performance. Le 2 is available at a price of Rs 11,999. The third contender here, Redmi Note 3 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 with a 64-bit 1.8GHz and comes with 3GB RAM and packs 32GB of internal storage. It is priced at Rs 11,999.
While the performance of all the three phones are almost at par, Le 2 seems to be a multi-tasker’s delight given its processor and storage capacity.
3. Camera: That doesn’t disappoint
Le 2 comes equipped with a 16MP rear camera with PDAF for faster focusing and an 8MP front camera, that ensures you can click a great selfie! While Lenovo Vibe K5 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF autofocus, an f/2.2 aperture and dual-tone LED flash apart from an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Redmi Note3 on the other hand comes with a 16MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture, a 5MP secondary camera with f/2.0.
This is great news for camera lovers!
4. Where Le 2 has an edge
Le 2 also incorporates the World’s first CDLA Standard that enables end-to-end lossless digital music transmission. The Superphone adds a whole new dimension to the future of smartphones by taking a leap into the next big thing in audio technology – Continual Lossless Digital Audio (CLDA) technology that has made the traditional 3.5 mm audio jack redundant.
While all three smartphones compete neck to neck in terms of specifications, Le 2 has an edge when it comes to the design, storage capacity and CLDA audio technology which promises to deliver an unmatched experience to users. At a price of Rs 11,999, Le 2 promises to deliver great performance with its powerful processer, a fantastic display and much more.
