It seems like Intel isn’t very good at keeping secrets. A little while ago, details regarding their 10th gen Comet Lake CPUs were leaked online. And now, details regarding their 11th Gen mobile processors, Tiger Lake-U have been leaked on GeekBench.
Tiger Lake-U will be the range of Intel’s 11th gen laptop processors. For now, the benchmark scores for a quad core Tiger Lake-U processor has been released. The processor has a multicore score of 4920. But the single core score is a whopping 1400, which is actually even more than Ryzen 9 3950x. This makes it the second best single core score on GeekBench behind the Core i9-9900KS which has an SC score of 1412. Ryzen 9 3950x has an SC score of 1312. The base frequency Tiger Lake-U quad core processor is put at 2.30 GHz.
Even though the single core score which has been reported is huge, keep in mind that it is only a quad core processor. This does mean though, that if these scores are true, Intel still has a fighting chance against AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 4000 APUs for laptops, which AMD claims will have desktop grade performance. It is estimated that Tiger Lake-U will come to laptops in the second half of this year, while we will be able to see AMD’s Ryzen 4000 series in February.
