Social media Facebook has launched Threads on Instagram, which is a new camera-first messaging app designed to help you stay connected to your close friends. Instagram says, Threads is made for users who have a small circle of friends, wherein you want to communicate what you’re doing and how you’re feeling through photos and videos. Threads can be used close friends in a dedicated, private space.
In Threads, you can share photos, videos, messages, Stories and more with your close friends. You can also control the people who can reach you via Threads, and you can also customize the experience around the people who matter most.
Last year, Instagram introduced the ‘Close Friends’ feature that allows users to share more personal moments with a select group of people you choose. You can now use Threads to message those people on your Instagram close friends list. You will also have a dedicated inbox and notifications just for them. In case you haven’t had any list yet, you can make one directly from Threads when you download the app.
With Threads, users can also quickly share a photo or video with their close friends on Instagram. Threads open directly the camera and allow you to add shortcuts, so you can share what you’re doing in just two taps.
Threads have started rolling out globally starting today.
Users have also started seeing ‘from Facebook’ label on the app store listings. The rebranding information has now been confirmed by the company itself. Instagram is now called ‘Instagram from Facebook’ and WhatsApp is known as ‘WhatsApp from Facebook.
