Eric Herzog, CMO and VP of Worldwide Storage Channels - IBM Storage System, talks about the hybrid cloud, AI, analytics, Big Data, the importance of containers and their new product IBM Spectrum Fusion.
Said Eric, “AI applications, analytics and Big Data are all super sensitive to storage performance. If the storage isn’t fast enough, then AI workloads and applications don’t function properly.”
He added that they had come out with IBM Spectrum Fusion to address that issue, also talking about how they had “embedded AI technology inside of their own solutions to make them easier to use, easier to manage and more efficient from an end-user perspective.”
On technology trends as a result of the New Normal, Eric said that Digital Transformation has accelerated and added that everyone was moving there anyway, but now everyone is going digital.
On being asked for one big trend, Herzog said, “The big thing is the availability of data. You’ve got to be available for core, Edge and cloud… and at the actual storage system level, the availability, whether it’s 5 9s, 6 9s or 7 9s of availability, how do you handle failure modes? How do you keep the end user up and going at all times?”
