"Hype" has been a characteristic feature of Oneplus' marketing and is justly induced into the newest member of the Flagship Killer family. A recent beneficiary of this hype was what Oneplus dubbed the 'Optic AMOLED Display.' But the new display technology, as it turns out, is nothing but a Super AMOLED display manufactured by Samsung which has been tweaked for contrast and colour temperature to Oneplus' choice.
This revelation was unearthed during a Reddit AMA session with Oneplus founders, reports Android Authority. Oneplus teased the launch of the Oneplus 3T, weeks before its latest release, passing notable anticipation into the market. Optic AMOLED was a marketing stint which picked pace as the configurations leaked.
OnePlus will be staying with Optic AMOLED displays for the foreseeable future.

Oneplus did not reveal what T stands for, but we readily accept the speculations around "Turbo" looking at the specifications being offered. There are no modifications on the outside, however. The 3T from Oneplus now has an upgraded chipset - Qualcomm Snapdragon 821, which was only present in the Google Pixel Smartphone Range until now. The newer chip will help Oneplus 3T retain a cooler posture and utilize battery more efficiently, owing to lower power consumption in the 821 chipset. This is coupled with the same massive 6GB of RAM.
Oneplus revamped the camera capabilities by pitching new features like Intelligent Pixel Technology for less noise in low-light conditions and improved Electronic Image Stabilization, added a new Sapphire Lens. The f2.0 aperture, however, remains unchanged. Oneplus has also added a "smile capture" mode, capturing selfies with grins.
The unit, now, sources more power from the new 3400 mAH battery which supports Dash Charging via USB 3.1. Design has been kept unchanged by Oneplus, but enthusiasts can now have a darker gray coloured chassy - gunmetal colour. The display, too, remains intact with minor colour correction in this iteration of the flagship killer.
Although, Oneplus 3T was expected to launch with an Android Nougat-based OS, it will come with Android v6.0.1 out-of-box, intially.
The Oneplus 3T comes with storage options of 64GB and mighty 128GB, now costing $40 over the previous $399 tag, now costing $439. This major under-the-hood update with a meager jump in price is set to attract new buyers, as well as annoy existing Oneplus 3 users.
Oneplus may raise eyebrows by launching a new flagship within five months of the previous launch but is also commended for leading edge specs at a very compelling price. It goes for sale in the US on Nov 22, and in the UK on Nov 28.
