In China, Huawei conducted a launch event where it unveiled a number of new devices. The company's high-end tablet, the new MatePad Pro 13.2′′, is one of these debuts. Let's look at the features and cost of it.
Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 Design & Display
The latest tablet model from the Chinese tech giant has a tall 13.2-inch screen. Yu Chengdong, the consumer manager of Huawei, announced that MatePad Pro 13.2″ is the first tablet in the world with a flexible OLED panel. This display has a resolution of 2880 x 1920 pixels, wide P3 color gamut, 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 1000 nits maximum brightness, 3:2 aspect ratio, 1440 Hz high frequency PWM dimming Global and Rheinland. Eye protection certificate 3.0.
The tablet has an edge-to-edge display on the front, while the back has a sleek design and a circular camera module. It also has the industry's highest screen-to-body ratio (94 percent). The front also has minimal bezels on the side, a notch at the top and a slim design. The MatePad Pro 13.2" weighs just 580 grams and is an impressive 5.5mm thick. Huawei claims it's the world's thinnest and lightest tablet for its sheer size.
Specifications and Features
Under the hood, the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 is powered by the Kirin 9000, the same chipset that powers the brand's flagship Mate 60 series phones. This processor is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. The company focused on the cooling mechanism, as the device has 52000 m㎡ of graphite to dissipate heat and cool the VC liquid.
The tablet is powered by a massive 10,100mAh battery that also supports 88W fast charging. With a 40-minute charge, the device can reach 85 percent, while a full charge takes about 65 minutes. For sound, the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 is equipped with 6 two-channel speakers (two high-frequency and 4 low-frequency), supports surround sound and Huawei Sound certification.
The front has a 16-megapixel and ToF sensor, while the rear has a 13-megapixel and 8-megapixel dual camera. Other notable features include Bluetooth 5.2, AAC and LDAC codecs. The device runs HarmonyOS 4 and comes with the company's third-generation M-Pen. This pen uses StarLight technology with over 10,000 pressure levels and can have latency as low as 0ms.
According to the official notes, the M-Pen is fast and can provide a better writing and drawing experience than its predecessor. The stylus has been compared to the Apple Pen, with Huawei claiming 20 percent better accuracy than the 2nd generation Apple Pen. Along with the tall screen, creative users can expect a smooth user experience when using the new pen.
Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 Price and availability
The company's latest premium flagship is available in multiple color options namely Blue, White and Black. It is also offered in multiple storage configurations. It starts from the basic model ie. 12GB 256GB 5199 yuan (about $711) and the top version 16GB 1TB with keyboard and pen 8299 yuan (about $1135).
Huawei will begin pre-sales of the device on October 25, 2023, with a full launch scheduled for October 28.
