The OfficeJet Enterprise Flow is HP’s flagship MFP that brings laser class speeds to inkjet printing. It can print up to 70 ppm and has a black ink cartridge with a yield of 10,000 pages. This makes it well worth a buy for workgroups with medium workloads.
The MFP uses HP’s PageWide technology, which comprises of a print head assembly that spans the entire width of a page. The print head has an array of ten 4-color dies, and 42,400 ink ejectors. This combined with the fact that the print head remains stationary while the paper advances beneath it, enable speedy printing.
The MFP looks elegant and sports an 8 inch intuitive touch screen control panel with a pull out keyboard making it convenient for you to access and perform various functions in standalone mode. For connectivity the MFP is equipped with Ethernet port, 3 USB ports (2 on back and 1 on front), and one Fax modem port. You can also make use of HP ePrint, Air Print and direct USB printing. The input tray holds 500 sheets and output tray has 300 sheet holding capacity and has 320 GB built in hard drive. The printer is robust and full of enterprise wide printing capabilities.
Performance - Setting up the MFP is easy and it can connect via USB or Ethernet. It is not a color laser but color inkjet with all the features and performance of laser MFPs. A Hardware Integration Pocket (HIP) is also integrated in it which allows optimal solutions, such as a proximity badge reader, to be seamlessly integrated. This secures print jobs and devices, improves workflows, and monitors printing, all while reducing costs and supporting organization-wide security. The MFP also has built-in NFC support which provides secure mobile printing without impacting company network. In case of paper jam, the printing stops and page recovery steps are shown on the touch screen thanks to its Anti-jam technology which will help prevent damage to MFP. You can manually configure the printer resolution in three modes viz General Office, Professional and Presentation. General office mode delivers more ppm but lower print quality. The MFP printed a total of 70 A4 B/W pages in a minute with first page coming out in 9 seconds. The MFP printed first color page in 9 seconds and a total of 66 ppm with average color print quality. When printing through Professional Mode the speed decreased—40ppm in Color and 42ppm Black though print quality is almost the same as in General office mode. The printer comprises of Automatic duplexer letting you print on both sides of paper. With the HP ePrint Enterprise app you can print on the go from supported smartphones to thousands of HP ePrint Public Print Locations, including print-and-copy retail stores, hotels, airport lounges, and more. While scanning to a network folder it took 10 seconds to scan an A4 B/W full text page and 16 seconds to scan an A4 color page. If we compare its performance to the Canon Imagerunner 1730i reviewed earlier, the first page timing is the same, but HP X585z dominates with decent print quality. The MFP can also store various destination addresses over an enterprise network to scan a document saving time to manually enter address every time you need to scan. The MFP has 100 sheets ADF as compared to 50 sheets in other printers. The MFP’s input capacity can be extended with an optional 2nd 500-sheet tray so you can print high volumes with fewer interruptions.
Bottomline: The MFP is designed for demanding, high-volume workloads with less maintenance and minimal consumable parts.
