After creating a new website the first and important step we have to follow is submitting a website to the search engine like Google, to get some organic traffic. The submission of your website in Google is totally free and also a great step in optimizing your site for search engines. In this article, we are going to show how to add your website to Google webmaster Tool.
Step 1: Before doing anything you need to create a sitemap for your website. Creating a sitemap will help search engines better crawl and categorize your site. You can easily create and verify a sitemap for any website for Google Search Console. In WordPress, tons of plugins are out there to help you in creating XML sitemap such as Yoast SEO.
Step 2: Once your website sitemap is created, its time to verify your site with Google Search Console.
Step 3: First of all sign into Google Search Console using the Gmail account information which you use to sign into Google Sites.
Step 4: Click "ADD A PROPERTY” button to submit your website in Webmaster.
Step 5: Now a box will pop-up and enter the base URL of your Web Site in the box, then click "Continue."
Step 6: After the above step Google webmaster generates a meta tag to verify the ownership of your website Copy the meta tag as shown in the screenshot given below (for example, )
Step 6: After getting a unique security token or Meta tag, now it’s time to paste it in your website. If you have Wordpress website then you can easily add the meta tag to your website by installing Insert Headers and Footers plugin. Or simply copy the meta tag line provided by webmaster tools in the header or footer of your website:
Step 7: Once you did the pasting work of your security code, Google will verify your website in few minutes and you will get a dashboard with the list of webmaster tools.
Step 8: To add sitemap in webmaster click on the sitemap option under crawl section which you will find on the left side of your dashboard.
Step 9: After above the step, a sitemaps section will open and click on the red “ADD/TEST SITEMAP” button to add/upload your sitemap and click “Submit Sitemap”
