Huawei Honor 6X will be Amazon exclusive. This is the first exclusive tie-up between Huawei and Amazon and the company will start selling Honor 6X smartphones in the last week of January on the e-commerce platform.
Earlier, Huawei had partnered with Flipkart for selling smartphones.
Honor 6X debuted at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 6. The phone has 5.5-inch display and dual-lens rear camera (12 megapixels and 2 megapixels). In terms of memory, Honor6X has two variants — 3 GB and 4 GB RAM. Powered by 3,340 mAh battery it promises up to 11.5 hours of video, 70 hours of music, or up to 8 hours of gaming on a single full charge.
Announced in China last year in October, Honor 6X features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by an octa-core Kirin 655 CPU. At the time of its launch, it was announced in 3GB and 4GB RAM variants with 32GB and 64GB storage.
On the other hand, this new deal is a huge blow for Flipkart which has already been in news for quite some time for all the wrong reasons. Amazon is giving a hard fight to Flipkart despite registering huge losses. However, industry analysts believe that capturing the market is the top priority for Amazon right now and it has enough cash to pump into the Indian market.
Last year, Flipkart valuation was slashed to $5.54 bln by investor Morgan Stanley for the fourth time. Flipkart is finding it hard to generate money to compete against its US rival Amazon. It has also observed high-profile exits since last year when chief product officer Punit Soni and chief technology officer Peeyush Ranjan left the company.
