While Google took the smartphone industry to storm at its annual hardware and software event wherein the search giant announced two new smartphones Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL that come with some of the advanced technologies inside, however Indian users would be disappointed as these smartphones won’t make their way to India. And yes, there is a very solid reason too.
But, first, let’s understand what makes the Google Pixel 4 series so special. For the uninitiated, the Pixel 4 smartphones come with motion sensor technology that works on the 60Ghz mmWave frequency band. What’s unique about this technology is that users can perform air gestures on the Pixel 4 such as silencing a call, face unlock without even touching the device. Sounds interesting right. However, according to the media reports, Google hasn’t received approval from the Indian government yet to the 60GHz mmWave spectrum, thus, Google Pixel 4 won’t be launched in India.
‘Google has a wide range of products that we make available in different regions around the world. We determine availability based on a variety of factors, including local trends, and product features. We decided not to make Pixel 4 available in India. We remain committed to our current Pixel phones and look forward to bringing future Pixel devices to India,’ a Google spokesperson has been quoted as saying.
The Google Pixel 4 comes with a triple rear camera setup including a 12MP primary sensor, a 16MP secondary lens on both Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL and a depth camera. While the Pixel 4 comes with a 5.7-inch full HD+ OLED display, the Pixel 4 XL comes with a 6.3-inch Quad-HD+ OLED display. Both smartphones come with a 90Hz refresh rate.
Pricing and availability
Consumers can pre-order a Pixel 4 for $799 and Pixel 4 XL for $899, and the company will start shipping from October 24, globally. The smartphone comes in Clearly White, Just Black, and a limited edition, Oh So Orange colors.
