Apple's new line of 13-inch MacBook Pro, the MacBook Air, and the Mac mini all powered by the new M1 processor have rolled out. Many have already bought one but these are not the only devices that will be getting the new M1 processor. In a post published on 9to5Mac, Apple is said to be working on bringing its M1 processor to all of its Mac lineups. This includes New iMac, New MacBook Pros, and New Mac Pro. The recently launched M1 13-inch MacBook Pro, the MacBook Air, and the Mac mini were just the first three devices.
Apple has acknowledged that it will take approximately two years to transition the entire Mac lineup to Apple M1 processors. This also does raise some interesting questions for Intel-powered Macs and for Intel as a company as well. As of now, Apple M1 has already proved in the benchmarks that it can run way faster than Intel-based MacBooks. It remains to be seen if Apple will be offering Intel-based Mac devices in the future or will it move completely to its own silicon solution.
New iMac
If there was one Mac that needed a refresh then it was the iMac. For almost a decade the iMac has been languishing without getting any meaningful update. There was a revision that was done to its chassis in 2012 but that was the extent of it. So it is not too much of a stretch to assume that the new iMac will come with an M1 processor under its hood. There is also reason to believe that Apple may even increase the screen size of the iMac from the abysmal 21 inches to 27 inches.
New MacBook Pros
Even though we already have the M1 processor in the 13-inch MacBook Pro it is still limited. A small form factor means there is less space to work with and to add components. Even though the 13-inch MacBook Pro is plenty powerful for most users but tech nerds like us, we need to see what is the true potential of the M1 processor in a laptop and that can only be seen on the 16 inch MacBook Pro. There are reports and leaks that suggest that there is a new 14 inch MacBook Pro that will be releasing in the Q2 or Q3 of 2021. It won't be surprising to see Apple launching both MacBook Pros together.
New Mac Pro
There is not much of a chance that we will be seeing the New Mac Pro in the same form factor that we have all hated. The previous or rather current Mac Pro looks like a cheese grater albeit a classy one. Bloomberg did a report saying that there might be a new Mac Pro coming and it will be half the size of the current one. Needless to say, the level of power that a new Mac Pro can have with the M1 processor is almost too exciting to imagine.
