PCQuest was recently invited for a detailed walkthrough of the smartphones and feature phones manufacturing facility of Intex in Noida. We were taken through the production floor for smartphones, features phones, batteries and battery chargers and shown in detail as to how a 41 stage integration process on the conveyor belt integrates 50 different components, sourced both locally and from abroad (primarily China) to produce one smartphone. More than 280 smartphones are manufactured each hour on one conveyor belt where around 68 workers work in sync with each other. The entire process is automated through the use of inhouse software which is a stripped down version of a regular ERP and where information at each manufacturing stage is fed and processed for the benefit of employees at subsequent stages.
