Flipkart has recently launched something called a Smartpack and you have probably heard about it. At it's core it says to the customers that they can buy a smartphone with the Flipkart Smartpack subscription and when returned customers will get 100% moneyback. It sounded too goo to be true and with all things if it sounds too good then there is something bad going on. In the Flipkart Smartpack customers get some subscriptions like Disney+, Voot Select, Sony Liv, and others depending on the plan they get. It is quite literally a subscription service like many of us have seen before. However, what makes this whole thing a sorts of scam is that Flipkart is being disingenuous about the Smartpack.
Let's take the Flipkart Smartpack at its face value. It's a subscription service that is sort of guaranteeing 100% on a select smartphone. Yes, the service is not for all smartphones. In fact, in a video made by C4ETech he even explains that the most expensive smartphone you can buy with the SmartPack is around INR 17,000. Now take that at face value. So a person buys a smartphone with the smartpack with the lowest subscription pack bronze pack. The monthly price of the Bronze plan is INR 829 for 18 months. So you pay INR 17,000 plus INR 14,922 bringing the price at INR 31,992 or rather INR 32,000. If a customer just paid only INR 2,000 more they would be playing the price of the smartphone back to Flipkart. That is at the lowest subscription plan. So Flipkart takes the money from the customers and then pays it back to them but it sort of doesn't. To the end consumer it is a loss from every possible conceivable angle.
You can sell a smartphone worth INR 17,000 on OLX after a year or even eighteen months for INR 5,000 to 6,000 and still make a profit. So it begs the question of why is this smart pack necessary or does it even benefit anyone except Flipkart and the subscription partners. Sure you get a few subscription services but the bronze pack it is almost laughable. The end story is that this is a scam being promoted by some YouTubers and influencers as sponsored content, but it is the end customers that is going to suffer financially. You can watch the video attached below to get even more context, but the fact remains that you should avoid the Smart pack at any cost possible.
