Covid kicked trends into turbo charge mode #VMware

Mark Lohmeyer, Senior VP and General Manager, Cloud Services, VMware, talks about the New Normal, the Cloudification of Work, the new challenges for the CIO and their company’s multi cloud offerings.

Said Mark, “At the highest level Covid really accelerated some trends that were already underway. Those trends are only going to accelerate faster into the future.” Talking about the VMware customer base, which is primarily enterprise customers, he added, “It’s just really elevated the importance and priority of two big trends that were already underway: Cloud initiatives, public cloud initiatives in particular, and application modernization initiatives.”

Talking about the Cloudification of Work, Mark said, “Most enterprise customers want to give their employees flexibility and choice as to where and how they work. They know that not only is it good for productivity, but it is almost a competitive imperative.” On the role of the CIO in the post-Covid world, he felt, “The CIO had one of the toughest jobs in the world before and it probably now got harder.”

About VMware Cloud Universal, Mark explained, “Our focus was around: How do we make it really very flexible? How do we enable our customers to flexibly consume our cloud services… Investment protection and success towards your business goals with best practices and expertise, those three big things together are what we hope to enable for our enterprise customers.”
